Small Dinner Party Sign-up - RSVP HERE
It is time to sign-up for the last of this church year's Small Group Dinners, to be held on Saturday, April 29 at 7pm. These dinners are potluck with groups of approximately 8 people each. Each of the prior dinner nights had over 60 people participating and reports suggest they have been fun for those who have come.
We need hosts willing to provide their homes and a main course. All members and friends are welcome whether hosting or not. For those with children needing babysitters, funds have been provided to allow for the reimbursement of babysitter expenses.
Every week following our Sunday worship service, members of our congregation head from the Sanctuary to our Parish Hall for coffee, tea, snacks, and conversation. When the weather is warmer, we hold Social Hour outside in our lovely courtyard. Adult volunteers and UU Wellesley staff act as hosts. Social Hour offers the opportunity for conversation on an unlimited number of topics. There are special greeters who reach out to visitors to insure that all feel welcome. Social Hour generally runs from 11:30 am to 12:15 pm, and includes both children and adults.
Deeper connections are often forged during social activities outside of regular Sunday hours. Potluck dinners offer visitors and new members a chance to get to know church members and learn more about our congregation, while enjoying great food. All are welcome at periodic Crafts & Conversation gatherings, where we work on individual crafts (knitting, rug hooking, quilting, weaving, mending, among others) and enjoy pleasant conversation. Experienced crafters often give pointers to those who are experimenting!
Soup with Friends brings the older members of our congregation together every other month for conversation and lunch. The group enjoys a half hour discussion led by our minister, followed by a lunch of soup, cheese, bread, and dessert cooked and served by a group of “kitchen elves.” The elves, who are younger adult volunteers, build connections while working and eating together in the kitchen. The older participants enjoy being served and connecting with one another in our Parish Hall.
For information about any of these activities or if you are interested in adding a new one, please contact the UU Wellesley office HERE.
